Safety and health issues are very important for the safety of workers. In this regard, the incident resulting in the worker being electrocuted reveals the failure of the worker and the employer to create safe conditions of work. At this point, it is worth mentioning the fact that the employee and the employer failed to define accurately conditions of work and make the position of employees safe.
On analyzing the case of electrocuting of the employees, it is possible to identify several causes. First, it is important to focus on the mission element of the 5M model, which is the central purpose or function. In fact, it is unclear what the purpose of the employee taking the ladder and going to the interior of the house was. The employer and the employee should define accurately the goal and functions employees should reach and perform respectively.
At the same time, it is necessary to take into consideration the man element, i.e. the human element. Obviously, the accident was the result of the error of the employees. On the other hand, the employer should warn the employees about the power line.
In this respect, the machine element, i.e. hardware and software, is also very important. The technological environment, namely the power line, was located dangerously low. As a result, the employer should minimize the risk of the contact between the ladder and the power line. Finally, the management, i.e. procedure, policies and regulations, is also important. To put it more precisely, the employees and the employer should define accurately all the procedures, including what employees should do, when, and how. If the aforementioned elements were taken into consideration, the accident could be prevented.
