Research Design

The research design affects consistently outcomes of the research because the proper choice of methods and strategy used in the course of the study define, to a significant extent, its outcomes. In such a situation, the analysis of any study should focus on the research design and its methods. At the same time, it is important to view the study as the whole to understand the essence of the study and basic methods used in the study along with their reliability and validity because they define consistently outcomes of the study and reliability of the findings of the study. In this respect, it is possible to refer to RJVT study, which can help to reveal the full extent to which the methodology of the study is important and determinant in regard to the overall definition of findings of the study.
On analyzing the study, it is primarily necessary to dwell upon the methodology used in the study. In this respect, it is worth mentioning the fact that the researcher provides the subjects of the study with the material, which they have to analyze and evaluate. At the same time, the researcher encourages the subjects to conduct independent study and research to find out more information on the topic defined by the researcher to create the chart. The use of the material provided by the researcher created the ground on the basis of which they could conduct their own research and find more information on the defined topic.

Furthermore, the researcher provided subjects with the possibility to choose the form of work that is the most appropriate for them. In this regard, the researcher offered students an opportunity to work individually or to do work in pairs of students, which were created ad hoc, according to students’ wishes. In such a way, the researcher did not limit students in the choice of the form of work on the problem. In fact, the work on the chart opened wider opportunities for the subjects. On the other hand, the framework of the research was not limited and defined clearly. What is meant here is the fact that the researcher did not know what form of work students will choose. For instance, students could choose the individual form of work only or, alternatively, all students could choose to work in pairs. As a result, the researcher would have substantial difficulties with the achievement of the goals of the study. To put it more precisely, the researcher would be unable to compare accurately responses and the performance of male and female students, if they worked in mixed pairs, for instance. Nevertheless, consciously or not, the researcher granted students with the freedom of choice of the form of work to choose from.

In the course of the study, students created charts and responded to teacher’s questions using the variety of sources. At this point, it is worth mentioning the fact that students used the variety of tools, which they considered to be effective and reliable to obtain the detailed information on the target topic. In fact, the researcher provided students with the freedom of action and stimulated their independent work and research. In such a way, students could use diverse tools to conduct the in-depth research of the topic and to create the chart. Therefore, the research was not focused on the specific learning material students have to explore. Instead, students could choose the best form of work and materials they could use in their charts.

Nevertheless, the researcher conducted the detailed data analysis in the data analysis section, which is extremely important for the overall outcomes of the study because it is on the ground of the data analysis, the researcher makes conclusions and reveals findings of the study. At this point, it is worth mentioning the fact that all the data were collected in written form. At the same time, many students used handwritten papers. In such a way, students provided the paper presented in the form, which was the most suitable for them. However, this method raises the problem of the accurate interpretation of the data collected in the course of the study. The researcher provided students with the freedom of choice of the presentation of their charts but, on the other hand, the researcher could fail to interpret properly some responses of the subjects.

At the same time, the sources used varied, including online and CD-roms, which were the major sources of information used by students to respond to the topic defined by the researcher. In such a way, the researcher revealed the fact that students were inclined to the use of electronic sources of information. On the other hand, the researcher collected the information in the diverse form and needed to process the collected information. The teacher collected the charts and analyzed them comparing charts of male and female students attempting to reveal differences in male and female responses. At this point, it is worth mentioning the fact that the development of the study focused on the study of the accurate comparison between charts created by female and male students. In this regard, the researcher should focus on the analysis of responses of students on the ground of their gender. However, such an approach was quite subjective because many students preferred to work in groups and the number of students working individually was not proportional in regard to their gender. What is meant here is the fact that there was a different number of female and male students working individually and some students worked individually but the number of male and female students working individually was not equal.

In such a situation, the researcher should focus on the use of effective techniques used to analyze collected data. In this regard, the researcher compared results of the subjects on the ground of their gender. The researcher took the results of the study and compared them. The researcher compared charts and responses of students on the ground of their gender and attempted to reveal the difference between genders. In fact, students provided different responses and the researcher should compare charts of female and male students. In addition, the researcher should also analyze the work of pairs of students. In fact, the researcher divided all pairs into male, female and mixed, male-female pairs. As a result, the researcher should define the responses of students on the ground of their gender too. At the same time, the researcher should take into consideration the group work of students working together because their charts could be different from individual work of students.

The findings of the study were quite controversial. In fact, females working alone had the best results, while females working in pairs with males had the lowest grade. However, it is obvious that the findings of the results were not reliable because the researcher failed to create equal conditions for male and female students. To put it more precisely, the form of work male and female students did not coincide. In this regard, it is possible to recommend using the individual work of students, which allow the researcher to compare accurately responses of students on the ground of their gender.

Nevertheless, the overall statistical analysis revealed the fact that the difference between genders is low and the hypothesis that females can perform much better in tasks related to writing and history is not true. In fact, the researcher conducted an effective study, which, though, has some weaknesses. To put it more precisely, the subjects involved in the study had free choice of sources they could use and they could choose different forms of work. Nevertheless, the author concludes that the difference between female and male students is statistically insignificant.

Thus, taking into account all above mentioned, it is important to place emphasis on the fact that the research was conducted effectively in terms of stimulation of research activities of students. However, the research was imperfect in terms of the selection of methods and data analysis. Therefore, it is possible to estimate that the choice of methods is very important for outcomes of the study.
