In actuality, the decrease of biodiversity is one of the major threats to the survival of humans and other species on the Earth. However, people often underestimate the significance of biodiversity that leads to the extinction of many species. In this regard, people grow concerned with the protection of mammals living close to humans but often they forget about species that are not seen for a human eye frequently but which do exist and which are also vulnerable to the threat of extinction. For instance, many species of fish are extinct today or face the threat of extinction because of economic activities of humans. In such a context, the question of their protection arises. However, this is not the mere question of protection of certain species of fish but it is a broader question of the protection of biodiversity on the Earth, which involves the protection of different species of fish that are vulnerable to the process of steady extinction and the faster people start solving this problem the more effective the protection of different species of fish will be and so will be the environment protection at large because the protection of certain species of fish may be an important step toward the protection of biodiversity on the Earth.
In fact, the current situation is quite dangerous taking into consideration the scope of human economic activities and the growing consumption of fish by humans. The consumption of fish grows along with the growth of the human population in the world. Therefore, fisheries contribute to the fast extinction of species of fish that are popular in the menu of humans. People are accustomed to consume fish as important product of human diet. However, people underestimate consequences of the growing consumption and the poor repopulation and reproduction of certain species of fish. In addition, human activities, especially industrialization and environment pollution have disastrous impact on the environment at large and certain species of fish in particular. In fact, fish cannot survive in polluted water that leads to the extinction of many species of fish. Thus, human activities are the major causes of the extinction of many species of fish.
Negative effects of the extinction of different species of fish can hardly be underestimated because the extinction of fish may provoke the steady decline of oceans as a complex bio-system that is vitally important for the entire planet. In fact, the world ocean covers two-thirds of the Earth and the steady extinction of fish will lead to the overall decay of the life in the ocean. Obviously, this would lead to the overall degradation of biodiversity on the entire planet that threatens to the survival of humans as well as other species. In a short-run perspective, the extinction of certain species of fish will misbalance the ecosystem of the ocean.
In such a context, the mankind should focus on the ways of prevention of extinction of rare species of fish. Obviously, the protection of fish is essential for the elimination of biodiversity and steady degradation of the world ocean as well as the biodiversity in the world. At this point, it is important to understand that the extinction of certain species of fish leads to the drop of biodiversity in the ocean that may lead to the decline of biodiversity on the entire planet, while the decrease of biodiversity is the direct threat to the life on the Earth and, therefore, to the survival of humans. Therefore, people should unite their efforts to protect rare species of fish.
