Everyone knows about the necessity of early childhood education: parents strive to ensure that their child would go to a “good” school staffed by experienced teachers who provide a high level of knowledge and friendly atmosphere. The school programs are complicated each year and now everyone states about the importance of early childhood education.
Thus, in this paper we are going to discuss and explore the importance of early childhood education and to prove a thesis statement that early childhood education is the basis for a child’s full and versatile development.
To begin with, early childhood education is aimed at providing the intellectual, personal and physical development of children from the age of 3-5 to 6 years old.
The main purpose of early childhood education is the full development of any child, i.e. assistance in the development of personal characteristics and assistance in mastering the various activities (object-manipulative, playing, learning, art, speech, support and other types of activities).
The child’s development in the first years of life passes fully: a complete mental development comes during physical activity; a good physical shape is achieved with good mental health. The child’s thinking develops during different games, manipulation of objects; the development of motor activities contributes to speech development.
The program of early childhood education should be structured so that a child could actively acquire all activities to try out the new roles and may, if desired, switch from one type of study to another.
Early childhood education promotes the formation of the child’s motivational sphere. This is a widely-known fact that it is necessary to produce the child’s need to get to know the outside world, to develop the areas of interest. Apart from this, it is necessary to comply with the norms of the development of the child’s emotional and volitional sphere, all actions aimed at developing the motivational sphere should be soft, not aggressive and not overwhelming.
In addition to listed above, it is important to pay attention to the development of the child’s sensory (sensitivity) system. The work of tactile receptors also promotes the mental and intellectual development of children. Moreover, it is necessary to make an emphasis on the development of cognitive processes (attention, memory, thinking, imagination). These processes help to form the skills of socialization and interaction with other people.
The programs of early childhood education have a successive character, i.e. they carry out a full preparation of a child to school, adapting him/her to training activities and providing the basic knowledge of a curriculum.
Furthermore, the importance of early childhood education includes the fact that it is possible to solve the problems of children’s physical development that is crucial for this age group through education. Moreover, it is possible to provide the formation of habits and skills, such as social behavior, attitude towards others, development interests, friendship, skills, labor, organization, nature and will.
In addition, early childhood education consists of the following tasks, which are educational and upbringing by their nature. These tasks help to form the correct ideas about the environment, and to discover children’s skills in drawing, sculpting, etc.
In conclusion, it is important to sum up that early childhood education plays an important role in a child’s personality in early and preschool age. Early childhood education is the key element, which helps to create a perfect foundation for a child’s training and educational success.
